Job Summary/Basic Function:

Computing and Technology Services is an integrated service organization caring for administrative computing, instructional computing, network services, client support and telecommunications. The department delivers a broad set of infrastructure, applications and services that are vital to the operation and mission of the College.

Date of Appointment will be as soon as possible.

Job Requirements & Essential Functions of the Job:

Provide support and maintenance to campus network and telecommunications infrastructure, A/V classroom technology, and occasional event support. Will be expected to work with a team of technical support professionals and provide assistance in the following areas:

• Provide day-to-day maintenance and support of campus cable plant
o Install/terminate/test/document new installations
o Troubleshoot and repair existing installations
o Perform network moves, adds and changes
o Patch cable and cross-connect management
o Maintain UPS batteries
• Support for the data/telecommunications rooms, fiber backbone connections, and other communications equipment through maintenance, labeling, and regular cleaning
• Assist with configuration and troubleshooting connectivity of network capable end devices including but not limited to printers/copiers, digital signage, and workstations
• Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of audio / visual equipment in academic and administrative rooms.
• Work with project managers, vendors, and contractors for infrastructure related requirements
• Assist with inventory maintenance
• This position may require occasional evening and weekend work
• In addition, this position will be expected to possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues. 

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: 

• Associate’s Degree or formal training with relative experience in telecommunications, networking, or computer field. Military training/experience will be considered.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work interactively as well as independently
• Ability to lift heavy objects up to 55 lbs.
• Ability to climb a ladder and stand for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to erect and work on scaffolding, operate and work from bucket trucks and man lifts
• Valid NYS Drivers License

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in telecommunications, networking, or computer field
• 2 years of work experience in network or telecommunications
• Hands-on-experience in diagnosing network hardware and troubleshooting software
• Appropriate professional certifications
• Familiarization with wireless technologies and protocols (i.e. 802.11)
• Experience with network management systems including but not limited to Extreme Oneview and Purview
• Experience working with Extreme Networks products
• Experience working with LAN/WAN technologies or protocols, including but not limited to RADIUS, IP Multicast, Quality of Service, Spanning-Tree, network virtualization. 
• Experience with A/V technologies to include configuration of Extron A/V control systems
• Experience with AutoCAD (Computer Aided Drawing)
